# Fans on social media warm to the idea of Newcastle appointing Howe as manager

After Unai Emery rejected the chance to manage Newcastle United, Eddie Howe was the next in line. [Supporters on social media weren’t initially thrilled](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/11/03/fans-on-social-media-arent-thrilled-as-newcastle-eye-eddie-howe-to-be-new-manager/) at the prospect of 43-year-old taking charge as he didn’t have Emery’s CV, but it does appear many are warming to the idea now.

[Pete Graves](https://twitter.com/PeteGravesTV/status/1456199319774765059) of *Sky Sports* said on Thursday morning that talks between Howe and Newcastle were ‘intensifying’ and that the Magpies were ‘impressed’ by his vision for the club, so fans now believe he could be the right appointment.

> I genuinely wanted Eddie Howe for the England job a few years back, Southgate got the job, and I would have rated Eddie above him, yet Southgate has a semi final n Final to his name, I would gladly welcome Eddie to the toon, love to see him eventually working with good players.

> He’s been the man for me from minute 1. Emery would have been a box office appointment but after that I think Howe is a brilliant appointment. It’s his attention to detail that I really like. Whenever I watch a video segment with him showing drills/ tactics I find it fascinating

> He's the man for me. Has all the motivational skills to get a quick lift into the players before January and take them to the next level.

> It’s a shame they didn’t offer it to Howe in the first place without all of this circus. Young, hungry, ambitious and a massive upgrade on Bruce. Let’s all get behind the lad and give him our full support

> Gotta give him the reins and the backing for the long term. Hes no good short term.He wont leave his young family in Bournemouth to come and steady the ship up here just to be replaced at the end of the season,he'll want assurances on the long term project and rightfully so [#NUFC](https://twitter.com/hashtag/NUFC?src=hash&ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw)

Newcastle are only at the beginning of their project, so Howe is better suited to haul them from the relegation zone and stabilise the club. The former Bournemouth manager has [12 years](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eddie-howe/stationen/trainer/10976) of experience as a coach and [kept](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/eddie-howe/leistungsdatenLigenNational/trainer/10976) the Cherries in the Premier League for five seasons after winning promotion in 2015.

Howe was [criticised](https://www.90min.com/posts/6538251-eddie-howe-s-sub-standard-transfer-dealings-are-finally-being-exposed-at-bournemouth) for his recruitment at Bournemouth which will be a sticking point for Newcastle fans as the Toon Army are expected to spend heavily in January following their [takeover](https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/pif-pcp-capital-partners-and-rb-sports-media-acquire-newcastle-united-football-club/), but is Howe likely to be a stepping stone appointment or something long-term?
