Jeff Hendrick posts on Instagram after Ireland thrash Qatar

Jeff Hendrick played a full 90 minutes as the Republic of Ireland thrashed Qatar 4-0 in a friendly at the Aviva Stadium and he marked the occasion with a post on his Instagram. The 29-year-old started in midfield and played his part in putting the World Cup hosts to the sword.

Hendrick will have enjoyed this international break, having played in the 3-0 win over Azerbaijan days before the Qatar thrashing, so he’ll go into Newcastle United’s meeting with Tottenham Hotspur in great spirits.

The Magpies are winless in the Premier League this season and need to climb out of the relegation zone. They currently sit 19th in the table with three points from a possible 21, though they’ve lost only two of their last five.

Hendrick hasn’t been a regular at club level this season, making just two league appearances, but he did start and score in Newcastle’s last game before the international break – a 2-1 defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The Ireland international has spent most of the campaign as an unused substitute under Steve Bruce, but time will tell if his Wolves performance will keep him in the side.
