# Lukewarm reaction on social media with Woodman’s move in jeopardy

Freddie Woodman has spent the last four seasons out [on loan](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/freddie-woodman/transfers/spieler/226049) and looked set to join Bournemouth on a temporary basis this summer as he wasn’t in Steve Bruce’s plans, but [Chronicle Live](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/freddie-woodman-bournemouth-newcastle-loan-21053392) say the 24-year-old’s proposed move may have fallen through due to Martin Dubravka suffering a foot injury.

The 32-year-old has been Newcastle’s first-choice goalkeeper since [arriving](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/martin-dubravka/transfers/spieler/74960) from Sparta Prague in 2018, going on to make [103 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/martin-dubravka/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/74960) in all competitions, conceding 139 goals and keeping 29 clean sheets.

Dubravka was out of action at the start of last season with a heel bone injury and didn’t get his place in the side back until late-February. The Slovakian international made [14 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/martin-dubravka/leistungsdaten/spieler/74960/plus/0?saison=2020) across the board in 2020/21 and would have been starting under Bruce if fit.

But until his situation is resolved, Woodman’s future is up in the air. Fans haven’t been too vocal on [social media](https://twitter.com/search?q=woodman%20bournemouth&src=typed_query&f=live) about the news, but might they be worried at Woodman’s lack of top-flight experience?

The former England U21 international has made just [four appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/freddie-woodman/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/226049) for Newcastle since his 2013-move from Crystal Palace and has been loaned out to Hartlepool United, Crawley Town, Kilmarnock, Aberdeen and Swansea City – none of which are top-flight clubs in England.

Woodman might have to deputise for Dubravka in the early stages of the season, so can he make the step up?
