Newcastle United confirmed on Wednesday that Jacob Murphy, Federico Fernández, Dwight Gayle and Paul Dummett have all signed new deals, marking the news with posts on social media.
Fabian Schar is now the latest to have his contract extended and he was on holiday with partner Alexandra at the time. As per Alexandra’s Instagram story, the pair were celebrating a three-year anniversary with a trip to Mykonos.
After sharing the video of their date night, Schar also posted a picture on his Instagram with his partner at the Spilia Seaside Restaurant. The 29-year-old played for Switzerland in this summer’s 2020 European Championships, so he’s having a late holiday to rest his legs before diving into pre-season with Newcastle.
Schar joined the Magpies from Deportivo La Coruna in 2018 and has gone on to make 74 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals with one assist. The central defender has been a good servant for United and would be difficult to replace, so Newcastle were desperate to keep him.
He should return later this month now his holiday has seemingly ended.
