There’s a lot of uncertainty over Newcastle’s ownership, but there has been some clarity on how much money Steve Bruce will have for new signings this summer.
Alan Nixon of The Sun revealed on Twitter that Mike Ashley has handed Bruce a £50m warchest for transfers, so they’ll have £15m more than they spent on new recruits last season.
Newcastle might need a striker this summer as Andy Carroll will be released at the end of his contract and could be joined by Dwight Gayle if his future isn’t resolved – the 31-year-old will be a free agent at the end of June as things stand.
The Magpies could look to strengthen out wide too as Henri Saivet and Christian Atsu will leave at the end of their contract while Jacob Murphy’s future is unknown too – his deal expires in a fortnight and talksv over a new deal haven’t progressed.
There’s sure to be a lot of speculation on who Newcastle will look to bring in, but Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock and Liverpool defender Nat Phillips are said to be top of their shortlist.
