A number of Newcastle United supporters have reacted to the latest update from The Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards outlining that takeover talks have been paused until the Magpies’ relegation battle is decided.

The Magpies are in a very difficult situation now with their awful run of eight defeats in their last 11 Premier League matches having seeing them sleepwalk right into a relegation scrap.

Matters have been made far worse by injuries to all three of the club’s best-attacking players, with Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron out until April and Calum Wilson still sidelined as well.

Edwards’ latest report for The Telegraph outlines that all takeover talks have now been put on hold by Mike Ashley’s main advisor Justin Barnes amid uncertainty over the club’s fate with them now locked in a relegation battle.

It is believed that decision was made in advance of the double injury blow to Saint-Maximin and Almiron, but those injuries have only served to cast more light on the massive issues the Magpies are now facing.

The report also outlines that behind the scenes there is a feeling that there is no point sacking Bruce at this late stage in the campaign.

Ashley has twice acted too late in terms of replacing managers in the Magpies’ previous two relegation campaigns under his ownership. That might be what saves Bruce’s job this time around.

Newcastle fans react over Edwards’ revelations on Bruce and the takeover

Many Newcastle fans were left angered by these revelations with them believing the club have just sat back and watched their current predicament build up until now it might be too late to change.
