# Host of Newcastle fans rejoice as Javier Manquillo returns to training

[Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/02/25/newcastle-fans-rubbish-ivan-toney-transfer-links/) defender [Javier Manquillo](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/02/11/javier-manquillo-ankle-injury-two-months-out/)has given Toon fans reasons to be cheerful ahead of [Saturday night’s crunch match with Wolves](https://www.skysports.com/newcastle-united-fixtures) at St James Park’ with his return to training.

It was feared the Spaniard [may be set for a considerable layoff](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/javier-manquillo-fabian-schar-wilson-19788169) at the start of the month when he came off against Southampton.

However, after[issuing a positive update](https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/steve-bruce-issues-positive-newcastle-united-injury-update-on-javier-manquillo-3140121) on the 26-year-old last week, Steve Bruce may have the full-back ready for selection sooner than expected after he was [pictured back in training](https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1364986840076455939) yesterday.

Prior to his injury Manquillo had played [10 Premier League matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/javier-manquillo/leistungsdaten/spieler/162029), earning an average [Sofascore rating of 6.61](https://www.sofascore.com/player/javier-manquillo/210082).

Rather [bereft of things to shout about](https://www.skysports.com/newcastle-united-results) on the pitch recently, many Magpies took to[social media](https://twitter.com/NUFC/status/1364986840076455939) to welcome back the versatile ace…
