# Many Newcastle fans rubbish Ivan Toney transfer links

Many [Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/02/25/john-gibson-doesnt-think-steve-bruce-faces-newcastle-sack-this-weekend/) fans have reacted on social media to reports linking them with a move to bring Brentford striker [Ivan Toney](https://readwestham.com/2021/02/20/pundit-tips-west-ham-to-sign-ivan-toney-in-summer/) back to St James’ Park.

The 24-year-old has been proving the Magpies wrong for allowing him to [leave the club in 2018](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11764/11608191/ivan-toney-interview-leaving-newcastle-peterborough-hopes-and-loan-spells) and his [24 Championship goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ivan-toney/leistungsdaten/spieler/251664) this season have inspired the London club to occupy one of the automatic promotion places.

Those goals have brought about speculation as to where his future may lie, with [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-toney-now-worth-30m-after-holding-rangers-talks-in-summer/) claiming that the Bees now value him at more than £30m.

Toney has [this week been linked](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/14113970/leicester-ivan-toney-summer-vardy-rodgers/) with a potential return to Tyneside, with the rumours later shared on Twitter by [@NUFCgallowgate](https://twitter.com/NUFCgallowgate/status/1364559221619126279).

> Newcastle United are one of three Premier League clubs (alongside Leicester and West Ham) monitoring Ivan Toney, who is rated at £25m. \

Despite scoring only two fewer league goals on his own in 2020/21 than [Newcastle have managed all season](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/premier-league/tabelle/wettbewerb/GB1/saison_id/2020), these Magpies fans can’t foresee Toney’s potential return becoming a reality…
