Newcastle fans react to Liam Kennedy article on takeover ‘silence’

A number of Newcastle United fans have been reacting to an article in the Shields Gazette from Liam Kennedy in which he suggested that there is still no certainty over how things will play out regarding any potential takeover of the club.

Supporters have been in a constant state of anxiety waiting for any update which could signal a breakthrough for the proposed £300, takeover of the club, as Kennedy’s piece outlines. The Magpies are still continuing with the legal arbitration process which they hope can resurrect the chances of the Saudi Arabian-based consortium taking over the club.

However, as Kennedy outlined, there is ‘silence’ on both sides and from both parties over the latest progress surrounding the takeover. He added that the Premier League’s legal team are confident that they have built a strong case at their end.

Matters have been further complicated this week by reports from The Athletic that American investor Joseph DaGrosa could turn his attentions to Newcastle if Southampton’s owners do not lower the asking price for the south coast club. However, Kennedy has claimed that such a move would likely be unsuccessful due to Mike Ashley prioritising the current deal with PCP.
