# Newcastle want double loan swoop for Joe Willock and Hamza Choudhury

[Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/) are focusing their attentions on potential deadline day loan moves for both Arsenal’s [Joe Willock](https://readarsenal.com/2020/11/06/mikel-arteta-praises-mature-joe-willock/) and Leicester City’s [Hamza Choudhury](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/01/29/steve-bruce-confirms-newcastle-loan-interest-hamza-choudhury/), with a possible move for the former looking more likely at this stage, according to [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/02/01/transfer-news-deadline-day-2021-live-liverpool-latest-window/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw).

The Magpies have been linked with a potential loan move for Choudhury throughout the winter window and it [had looked like that move could get over the line](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/02/01/transfer-news-deadline-day-2021-live-liverpool-latest-window/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw). However, [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/02/01/transfer-news-deadline-day-2021-live-liverpool-latest-window/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw)‘s latest update suggests that the move has been complicated by injuries to the Foxes’ squad.

It has also [been reported](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-9205879/Newcastle-trying-convince-Arsenal-let-Joe-Willock-loan.html) that the Magpies are interested in making a move for Willock from Arsenal. According to [The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/02/01/transfer-news-deadline-day-2021-live-liverpool-latest-window/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw), the move for the 21-year-old seems the more likely of the two to happen before the transfer window slams shut tonight.

However, there could be a potential stumbling block over whether the midfielder wants to leave north London for Tyneside. Steve Bruce is [reportedly focusing most of his attention](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/02/01/transfer-news-deadline-day-2021-live-liverpool-latest-window/?WT.mc_id=tmg_share_tw) on getting the deals for Choudhury and Willock over the line.

This update will be encouraging for the Magpies, with time better being spent pursuing just a couple of deals that are likely to happen rather than chasing numerous transfers which are unlikely to get over the line.

Choudhury, who averaged an [85.1% passing success rate](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/312670/History/Hamza-Choudhury) last season, would seem a good addition to a Newcastle side with [one of the worst returns for this metric](https://www.whoscored.com/Regions/252/Tournaments/2/Seasons/8228/Stages/18685/TeamStatistics/England-Premier-League-2020-2021) in the current Premier League campaign.

However, it seems more likely that Willock will arrive, so the Magpies will need to work on convincing him that a move to the northeast would be beneficial for his long-term development. That effort could make the difference between signing the youngster and missing out on him.
