# Newcastle fans fume over print media’s exclusion from Steve Bruce press conference

Plenty of [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/01/23/newcastle-morning-news-round-up-23rd-january-2021/) supporters have been reacting to a revelation from [journalist Oscar Paul](https://twitter.com/oscarpaul2/status/1353338623270268934) that [Steve Bruce’s](https://readnewcastle.com/?p=31295) press conference ahead of the Leeds United game will take place without the usual print media and with just the broadcast journalists.

Bruce finds himself under [ever-growing scrutiny](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/must-read-steve-bruce-interview-19683863) following a dismal run of form which has now seen them fail to win [any of their last 10 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/newcastle-united/spielplandatum/verein/762) in all competitions, including last eight Premier League matches. The 2-0 defeat at Aston Villa saw them drop down to 16th place in the table on goal difference and leaves them seven points clear of the relegation zone

There have been [reports](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/mike-ashley-steve-bruce-future-19613994) that Mike Ashley will continue to keep faith in Bruce whilst Newcastle are outside of the bottom three, but at the moment the Magpies are sliding dangerously down the table with little sign of having enough about them to turn things around. The last few weeks have seen increasing questions being [asked about his potential future](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/must-read-steve-bruce-interview-19683863) by the press.

It has now been reported that the press conference ahead of the crucial game against Leeds at St James’ Park on Tuesday will take place without the print media and contain just the broadcast and radio reporters, as revealed by [Paul on Twitter](https://twitter.com/oscarpaul2/status/1353338623270268934).

### **Newcastle fans react to news over Bruce’s press conference**

Many Newcastle fans have been bemused by the developments around the press conference, with some feeling it is a “pathetic” reflection of the pressure under which Bruce is now operating.
