# Newcastle fans react as Allan Saint-Maximin is ready to return

There’s been little in the way of things to get excited about from a [Newcastle](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/01/22/newcastle-linked-with-juventus-youngster-radu-dragusin/) perspective in recent weeks as the Magpies endure a [dismal run of results](https://www.skysports.com/newcastle-united-results).

On Friday, manager Steve Bruce [confirmed](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/steve-bruce-allan-saint-maximin-qualities-newcastle-return) that flamboyant winger [Allan Saint-Maxmin](https://readnewcastle.com/2021/01/16/newcastle-fans-rejoice-allan-saint-maximin-returns-to-training/) is finally ready to make his eagerly-anticipated return this weekend as his side face Aston Villa in Premier League tonight.

The French forward has been [out for two months](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/leistungsdaten/spieler/272642) after a positive virus test and [long-standing fitness issues](https://news.sky.com/story/covid-19-newcastle-uniteds-allan-saint-maximin-and-jamaal-lascelles-suffering-long-term-effects-from-coronavirus-12170082) as a result. His [goals and assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/272642/verein/762) since coming to the club, along with his proficient dribbling ability ([3.6 successful dribbles per game](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/23/Show/England-Newcastle-United)), mark him out as a potent attacking weapon for Newcastle when at his best.

Bruce played down the chances of the 23-year-old being involved from the start at Villa Park but nevertheless, the mere confirmation of Saint-Maximin’s return to the matchday squad was at least [cause for optimism](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-saint-maximin/leistungsdaten/spieler/272642) among many Newcastle supporters.

We’ve collated a pick of the hopeful reactions from the Tyneside faithful…
