Newcastle fans react to takeover update from Liam Kennedy

A number of Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the latest update from Shields Gazette reporter Liam Kennedy revealing that Mike Ashley has knocked back other interested parties, with him only interested in resurrecting the current deal on the table.

The Magpies have been the subject of intense speculation surrounding the potential £300m takeover by Saudi-Arabian based consortium PIF since the summer. The club are now in a legal arbitration process over the Premier League’s halting of the potential takeover.

According to Kennedy’s report, some progress on the potential resurrection of the takeover is expected to happen this month. That means there could well be emerging signs of potential for PIF to resurrect their bid to buy out Mike Ashley over the next few weeks. The consortium are reportedly keeping an eye on proceedings and would come back in if they can.

The report also outlined that Ashley has received a high volume of offers from other interested parties since the deal with PIF was agreed back in the summer. However, he remains committed to trying to get the current £300m deal over the line instead of negotiating another potential deal with other parties.

Newcastle fans react to latest takeover update

Some Newcastle fans were hopeful that this update could suggest that something is going to happen which could change the current deadlock. However, others were more sceptical over the report and are trying not to read too much into proceedings.
