Newcastle fans slam Miguel Almiron’s performance against Leicester

A number of Newcastle United supporters berated Miguel Almiron‘s “terrible” performance in the Magpies’ 2-1 defeat at home to Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.

Newcastle were aiming to pick up another positive result after their draw against Liverpool and relieve the pressure on Steve Bruce. However, even though they ended a six-hour goal drought, they were not good enough in the final third to take anything from the game against Leicester.

Almiron struggled to have much of an impact for Newcastle yesterday, with the Paraguay international managing just 39 touches of the ball. He also gave away possession eight times and had just one effort on goal throughout his 64 minutes on the pitch (Sofascore).

The 26-year-old has now registered just one goal and one assist in 15 Premier League appearances so far this term, a poor return from an attacking player.

Most Newcastle fans have been patient with the 26-year-old during his time at St James’ Park, appreciating the energy and commitment he brings to the side. However, there were plenty after the Leicester game who shared their frustration over his lack of end product and questioned whether he will ever be able to improve that aspect of his game.
