# Newcastle fans hail performance of Karl Darlow following Liverpool draw

A number of Newcastle United supporters have been heaping praise on the outstanding performance of goalkeeper Karl Darlow following the Magpies’ [*goalless draw*](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/football/55095216)against Liverpool.

Steve Bruce’s side headed into the game under ever growing pressure following three defeats in their previous four matches. Newcastle though delivered a much better performance and took advantage of Liverpool looking a little tired by pressing them higher up the pitch and making life difficult for them throughout the contest.

However, although Newcastle delivered a strong performance they were also indebted to Darlow’s excellent performance which was the highlight of what has been an excellent individual campaign for him so far. The 30-year-old made a number of stunning interventions to maintain the clean sheet, making four saves in total to record his third clean sheet of the season ([Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/karl-darlow/123689)).

The keeper has the returning Martin Dubravka breathing down his neck for a place in the starting line-up, but Bruce[admitted](https://twitter.com/lee_ryder/status/1344407415639470082?s=19)after the game that Darlow holds the gloves at the moment following another excellent display. That means the Magpies have two quality options to call upon between the sticks which is a good problem to have.

Many Newcastle fans were quick to suggest that Darlow has to be in the conversation to make the England squad due to his form so far this season. While there were others who were just keen to praise him for his consistency and quality throughout the campaign so far.
