Many Newcastle United fans have urged the Magpies to sanction the January sale of Andy Carroll after former England striker Kevin Phillips suggested the 31-year-old would be a good buy for West Brom.
Carroll has already been linked with a potential move to The Hawthorns in the winter transfer window. The Baggies lack a big physical presence in attack and the experienced former England international fits is apparently a wanted man by new Albion manager Sam Allardyce.
The 31-year-old has been unable to make much of an impact at St James’ Park so far this season, and he was reportedly annoyed to have been left out of the squad for the recent 5-2 thrashing at Leeds United. Carroll has only had two starts and eight appearances in total in the Premier League so far this season and has failed to score since returning to St James’ Park from West Ham in August 2019.
His contract expires in the summer, which means that January could be the last chance for the Magpies to make some money on the 31-year-old. Speaking to West Brom News, Phillips urged Allardyce to end Carroll’s Newcastle nightmare and bring him to the Midlands.
Newcastle fans urge Magpies to sell Andy Carroll
Many Newcastle fans on Twitter suggested that they would be happy to see Carroll leave the club and feel he is not good enough any more to lead the line for them in the Premier League. However, some were sceptical about allowing him to move to a potential relegation rival in West Brom.

I'd give him away. Used to love him but was just brought in to shut fans up a bit. Literally all he's good for is defending a corner.

Keep until the end of the season. Theres no point in strengthening a relegation rival! Apparently his off field presence is valued too. End of season however there is no justification to renew his contract at which point we can wish him well and thank for earlier memories.

Id let him go for free. I'm a big fan of Andy an when he was here first time it was great times but I think he'd be perfect for big sam

I would normally say yes but not to a relegation rival

Yep. Contributes nothing. Less effective than Joelinton

Waste of a squad number.
