# Newcastle fans rage over statistic from Fulham draw

A number of [Newcastle United](https://readnewcastle.com/) supporters have been reacting to a [damning statistic which emerged on Twitter](https://twitter.com/PremLeaguePanel/status/1340416229157289985) revealing how little of an attacking threat the Magpies showed in their 1-1 draw against 10-man Fulham.

Steve Bruce’s side headed into the game under pressure to bounce back from their [5-2 thrashing at Leeds United](https://www.skysports.com/football/leeds-vs-newcastle/428960). However, Newcastle fell behind in the first half before being handed a lifeline in the game when the visitors were reduced to 10 men. That was immediately compounded by [Callum Wilson slotting home from the penalty spot](https://www.skysports.com/football/newcastle-vs-fulham/428973) to get his side back on level terms.

That left Newcastle with around half an hour to press home their man advantage and pile pressure on a Fulham side which had shipped 22 goals in their opening 13 Premier League matches. However, the Magpies were scarcely able to create a chance, laboured and slow in possession and unable to break down their opponents.

Those struggles have been emphasised by a statistic [tweeted by @PremLeaguePanel](https://twitter.com/PremLeaguePanel/status/1340416229157289985) which revealed the Magpies had an xG of just 0.09 in the final half-hour against Fulham. That is a terribly low figure against a side struggling down the bottom of the table and with 10 men away from home, offering a terrible reflection of Newcastle’s creative abilities.

### **Newcastle fans react over damning xG figure**

Many Newcastle fans were furious with that “disgraceful” statistic and were quick to highlight why [so many are frustrated](https://thisisfutbol.com/2020/12/blogs/premier-league/newcastle-united-fans-react-to-steve-bruces-latest-comments-newcastle-united-steve-bruce/) with the style of play under Bruce.
