A number of Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the latest update on the takeover saga surrounding the Magpies, with reports that Mike Ashley is set to step up the legal process with the Premier League.
It has been reported that Newcastle are involved in a legal arbitration process with the Premier League over the halting of the proposed £300m takeover of the club in the summer. It is now being reported that the action is not being taken simply for compensation, but with Ashley hoping the deal can be pushed through with the belief that PIF did not get a fair hearing compared with previous Premier League takeovers, per Shields Gazette.
Newcastle are set to use evidence which has been collated in regards to the completed takeovers at Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Wolves. The Magpies are set to cite the Abu Dhabi influence and sponsorship links to Man City and the influence of the Chinese government on Wolves’ owners as areas where they feel PIF’s takeover bid has been treated differently, per Shields Gazette.
Ashley is reportedly keen to see the legal action through to the end, having been given assurances from PIF, who are still committed to buying the club for between £300m and £350m should they be given the chance by a shift in stance from the Premier League, per Shields Gazette.

Many Newcastle fans were hopeful that this latest update on the takeover saga will provide some weight to getting things moving in the right direction, while one fan stated that ‘a long ride’ awaits with the case looking likely to be heading towards court.
People need to understand that Ashley has 350 million and many opportunities in SA on the line. This isn't fan service, he wants his money simple as https://t.co/EX8E2BzlWu

Is the EPL totally backed in a corner? It seems the only way out for them now is approve the nufc takover unless they have a water tight case. Doesn't look likely…
