A number of Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to the latest update from The Telegraph reporter Luke Edwards on the Magpies’ lack of communication over a number of positive Covid cases at the club.
Newcastle became the first Premier League club to suffer a large-scale outbreak, which saw their game against Aston Villa scheduled for last Friday postponed. That came after the Magpies were forced to close their training ground last week, meaning they were unable to prepare properly for the scheduled trip to Villa Park.
It has now been reported that the Magpies have reopened their training ground with Steve Bruce aiming to prepare his side for their meeting with struggling West Bromwich Albion on Saturday. However, at this stage there are reports emerging that this fixture could also be in doubt due to the ongoing situation with Newcastle’s squad.
Edwards has provided an update on Twitter, revealing that the Magpies have not revealed the amount of cases, but he suggested that it is the highest volume of any Premier League club so far this season. He also raised concerns over the lack of communication coming from the club.
Newcastle fans react to Luke Edwards update
Many Newcastle fans were quick to point out that the lack of communication from the club has been the order of the day for some time under Mike Ashley’s ownership. Some supporters were baffled over the lack of transparency from the club over the number of virus cases.
Newcastle refuse to talk… Period. They never communicate over anything, and haven’t for so long so you can’t be surprised by this. Steve Bruce press conferences are the only time you hear from the club.

On the back of a promise for greater fan communication from Lee Charnley too. If anything it has gone the other way!

The Covid outbreak is symptomatic of everything that happens at our club, very little to no information is ever released to let fans know what is going on.

Communication on all levels within the club has been poor for years. Not logical and a little weird.

It’s so strange how cloak and dagger they are about everything

Did you honestly expect anything different? We've had no communication from the club for the best part of 12 years. Everything has always been secretive with #NUFC since our last takeover
