A number of Newcastle Unites supporters have been reacting to the latest update over defender Paul Dummett, who has suffered a fresh injury blow which is set to prolong his spell on the sidelines.
Dummett has already been out for almost the entire calendar year after he suffered a season-ending tendon injury during a 1-1 draw at Wolves back in January. The five-cap Wales international had been hoping to get back into the first team fold over the next few weeks after he was involved in an under-23s match against Fulham back in October.
However, it has now emerged that the defender has suffered a fresh hamstring issue which will potentially keep him out of action for Steve Bruce’s side for the rest of the year, per Chronicle Live. That would mean the Welshman would have missed nearly an entire year of Premier League football.
The Magpies have suffered injury troubles to a number of players so far this campaign, and that is starting to cause some concern among many of the club’s supporters. Dummett would have been a very useful option to call upon for the Magpies given his ability to operate both at left-back and in a central defensive three.
Newcastle fans react to latest Dummett setback
Many Newcastle fans were venting their frustrations over the defender’s substantial injury troubles, with some even questioning whether the time could be right to offload him. However, some fans were keen to point out his quality and suggested the “class” Welshman could still have an important role to play when he returns to action.

Dummett seems to be another who has regressed under new management. Was very rarely injured in previous years and played a heck of a lot of consecutive games. Real shame because he’s a handy utility player https://t.co/LFxns0Jd55
