A number of Newcastle United fans have been raging over Steve Bruce’s handling of Miguel Almiron’s situation after reports emerged on social media over his potential future at the club.
The 29-cap Paraguay international was a transfer target for La Liga side Atletico Madrid in the summer and he might have already left Newcastle had it not been for the global pandemic, per reliable journalist Roberto Rojas on Twitter. The 26-year-old’s agent has also confirmed that he is aiming to play for a team which looks to control possession more than the Magpies under Bruce.
Daniel Campos, the agent of #NUFC’s Miguel Almiron’s spoke on Paraguayan radio today about how Atlético Madrid had indeed been interested in the player but that an offer was never made. He also said that had it not been for the pandemic, he would’ve left England already. pic.twitter.com/FKrQkLDCi9

Almiron has endured a mixed start to the Premier League season, with Bruce no longer considering him to be an automatic starter for the Magpies. The 26-year-old has made just four starts for Newcastle in the league in their opening eight matches (Sofascore) and he has been placed in more of a central midfield role at times with an obligation on him to provide defensive cover.
That has limited the creative influence Almiron has had on the Newcastle team, with the 26-year-old averaging just 34.7 touches per game for the Magpies so far this campaign (Sofascore). Bruce’s side have come under fire for their style and been labelled as ‘anti-football’ in their approach, and they have the joint-fewest shots on goal of any team in the top flight in 2020/21 (premierleague.com).
Newcastle fans rage over latest update on Almiron
Many Newcastle fans were quick to suggest they would not blame Almiron for wanting to leave the club in January, with some angry over the way that Bruce has not been selecting him as often as perhaps he should, or that whenever the Paraguayan does start, he is being restricted by the manager’s tactics.
Which attacker would even wish to play under Bruce. We will lose asm too if Bruce continues to setup in a similar way going forward #NUFC https://t.co/rUpeTfjIYO

This is all down to Bruce.
He's ruining so many of our players. #BruceOut #NUFC https://t.co/zqHW5ipYNs— Jack🇧🇷⚫⚪ (@jchaytor16) November 16, 2020
Wouldnt blame him at all, Bruce has been shocking with him at start of this season too. If he could get himself a move to Atletico or similar he'd be stupid not to. NUFC is a nothing club under Mike Ashley https://t.co/1jEtPoHswq

This is worrying… can’t blame him though playing under Bruce. Not to mention the stupidity from Bruce to drop miggy in first place! Clueless!! #NUFC https://t.co/NH9qrhmx7M

I don't blame him. He's constantly played out of position, in and out of the team and playing under an awful manager. Steve Bruce's tactics mean we have such low possession and sit so deep, we'll never see the best out of players like Almiron. He'd be brilliant in a better side.

Don't blame him, he's too good to sit on the bench for Steve Bruce anyway
