Steve Bruce held his customary pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the difficult trip to Wolves, and fans have reacted to one comment in particular made by the Toon boss.
Bruce discussed the weekend’s opposition and said: “They’re (Wolves) a very good side and have finished 7th twice now. We’re under no illusions it’ll be a very difficult game but they didn’t beat us last year.”
Perhaps an accurate assessment, however the Magpies fans have responded in their droves…

Despite the displeasure from an abundance of Newcastle fans on those comments, Bruce is perfectly entitled to openly praise the opposition, otherwise, he would simply be lying.
Some fans seemed to take a dislike to the fact the Toon boss had used last season’s results against Sunday’s opponents as a yardstick, although so early in the season there isn’t a great deal else to go off.
However, when it comes to setting his team up and the tactics employed by his side, there should still be room for positivity against a Wolves side who haven’t enjoyed the most auspicious of starts to their campaign, a 4-0 defeat at the hands of West Ham an especially low point in their opening fixtures and proof they can be got at.
