# Report: Miguel Almiron ‘Frustrated’ By Lack Of Game Time

Newcastle United’s [one-time record transfer spend](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/newcastles-most-expensive-signings), Paraguayan playmaker Miguel is believed to be ‘frustrated’ by his lack of match time at St James’ Park in recent weeks, according to the [Chronicle Live](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/miguel-almirons-absence-proving-talking-19149035).

The £21m signing from MLS side Atlanta United [took a while](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/dec/20/miguel-almiron-desperate-first-goal-newcastle-united) to settle into life in the North East, however has since [found his feet](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/leistungsdaten/spieler/272999/plus/0?saison=2019)and now feels he is worthy of more match inclusion.

The 26-year-old who has 22 Paraguay caps, was [left on the bench](https://www.skysports.com/football/newcastle-vs-burnley/teams/428874) as the Magpies beat Burnley before the international break.

Last weekend against Manchester United the attacking midfielder was [named on the bench](https://www.skysports.com/football/newcastle-vs-man-utd/428883) once more by Steve Bruce, coming on for the last two minutes with the game already beyond reach.

The man seemingly ousting Almiron currently is Joelinton, now deployed in a wide position following the arrival of central striker Callum Wilson. However, by [comparison](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/player-comparison), based on last season’s exploits, the Paraguay forward would certainly have a viable argument he should be in front of the Brazilian in the pecking order.

Whilst Almiron [hasn’t necessarily set the world alight](https://www.premierleague.com/players/54312/Miguel-Almir%C3%B3n/overview) since his big money move to Tyneside, there have certainly been the fledgling beginnings of a [very useful](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/miguel-almiron/profil/spieler/272999) Premier League footballer.

Amazingly Bruce has found himself with an [embarrassment of riches](https://www.premierleague.com/clubs/23/Newcastle-United/squad) in the attacking midfielders column, with Almiron, Joelinton, and new signing Ryan Fraser all vying for one position in the current formation.

Almiron will certainly be pushing hard for a starting berth on Sunday as the Magpies travel to Wolves.
