# Newcastle United Complete Signing Of Striker On Free Transfer

Newcastle United have completed the free transfer signing of striker Florent Indalecio following a successful trial with the club over the summer, as confirmed by[Liam Kennedy](https://twitter.com/LiamJKennedy23) of the Sheilds Gazette.

The French forward has signed for the Magpies until the end of the season and will go into the Under 23 squad.

Having already submitted the [25 man Premier League squad](https://www.nufc.co.uk/news/latest-news/newcastle-united-name-25-man-squad-for-first-half-of-the-season/) up until January, and falling outside of criteria, Indalecio will not be part of any first-team league action until the second half of the season at the earliest.

The 23-year-old is believed to be a [close friend](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/inside-story-florent-indelacios-rise-19072567) of Allan Saint-Maximin, who himself recently signed a new bumper [new six-year contract](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-8838679/Newcastle-star-Allan-Saint-Maximin-set-sign-bumper-new-SIX-YEAR-contract.html)on Tyneside.

Formerly of French Ligue 1 club AS Saint-Etienne, Indalecio was last playing football in the [lower leagues of Australia](https://www.ftbl.com.au/news/premier-league-interest-in-sydney-brickie-shines-light-on-a-league-scouting-553697).

The Frenchman may have gone some way to earning his deal on the back of a wondergoal in training this summer, captured by an onlooking Saint-Maximin.

A bizarre signing that has gone rather under the radar with the transfer window now being closed almost a week.

Going off the stunning training goal there is clearly some ability in the Frenchman, who has seemingly struggled to find a home to this point.

Perhaps being nearby his friend Saint-Maximin will help him settle and Newcastle could have unearthed a gem.
