# Former Newcastle Loanee Could Be Released From Contract

Danny Rose, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle, could be about to become a free agent with [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-tottenham-plan-talks-to-terminate-contract-of-big-earning-star/) claiming Tottenham are planning on terminating his contract.

The left-back wasn’t named as part of the [Spurs 25 man Premier League squad](https://www.premierleague.com/clubs/21/Tottenham-Hotspur/squad), leading to questions surrounding his future. The 30-year-old would receive a pay off from his current deal, believed to be worth around £70,000-a-week.

Rose’s [downfall has been sudden](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-rose/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/50174) and rather dramatic, and his chances of first-team action were dealt a further blow when Tottenham confirmed the [signing of Sergio Reguilon](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12073933/sergio-reguilon-tottenham-sign-real-madrid-defender-on-five-year-deal) recently.

The England man with [made 11 Premier League appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-rose/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/50174/plus/0?saison=&verein=762&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) for the Magpies and was[believed to be a target](https://www.football.london/tottenham-hotspur-fc/transfer-news/tottenham-transfers-danny-rose-newcastle-18810190) for a permanent deal in the summer.

However, Steve Bruce opted to bring in recently [relegated Jamal Lewis](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12066514/jamal-lewis-newcastle-sign-left-back-from-norwich-for-15m-on-five-year-deal)from Norwich instead.

Should the report materialise and Rose become a free agent, there will almost certainly be plenty of conjecture as to whether Bruce should make a move for the [one time pivotal](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3507/Danny-Rose/stats) Spurs man.

### READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

There is a genuine case to be brought forward that Bruce should reignite interest in Rose, especially on a free transfer.

Currently valued at £9.0m ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/danny-rose/leistungsdaten/spieler/50174)) and with almost [200 Premier League](https://www.premierleague.com/players/3507/Danny-Rose/stats)outings to his name, those types of players don’t come along for free very often, certainly not with years left in the tank.

Although it’s [unlikely](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/player-comparison) the Spurs man would displace [Lewis as first-choice](https://www.premierleague.com/players/14938/Jamal-Lewis/stats?co=1&se=363) left-back, as we’ve seen all too recently when Lewis was a [doubt with injury](https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18791342.injury-scare-newcastle-jamal-lewis-forced-scan/#:~:text=Lewis%20will%20instead%20have%20a,it's%20nothing%20to%20worry%20about.), it doesn’t hurt to have adequate backup.
