Danny Rose, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Newcastle, could be about to become a free agent with Football Insider claiming Tottenham are planning on terminating his contract.
The left-back wasn’t named as part of the Spurs 25 man Premier League squad, leading to questions surrounding his future. The 30-year-old would receive a pay off from his current deal, believed to be worth around £70,000-a-week.
Rose’s downfall has been sudden and rather dramatic, and his chances of first-team action were dealt a further blow when Tottenham confirmed the signing of Sergio Reguilon recently.
The England man with made 11 Premier League appearances for the Magpies and was believed to be a target for a permanent deal in the summer.
However, Steve Bruce opted to bring in recently relegated Jamal Lewis from Norwich instead.
Should the report materialise and Rose become a free agent, there will almost certainly be plenty of conjecture as to whether Bruce should make a move for the one time pivotal Spurs man.

There is a genuine case to be brought forward that Bruce should reignite interest in Rose, especially on a free transfer.
Currently valued at £9.0m (Transfermarkt) and with almost 200 Premier League outings to his name, those types of players don’t come along for free very often, certainly not with years left in the tank.
Although it’s unlikely the Spurs man would displace Lewis as first-choice left-back, as we’ve seen all too recently when Lewis was a doubt with injury, it doesn’t hurt to have adequate backup.
