Newcastle fans debate club’s ultimate five-a-side team

Newcastle United fans have joined in a social media debate, with many looking to select the club’s ultimate five-a-side team.

The last few seasons for Newcastle fans have been up and down to say the least, but they have enjoyed some superb talent at the club in the past, including the likes Alan Shearer, Gary Speed and Paul Gascoigne.

Shearer played a total of 405 games for Newcastle during his playing career, netting an impressive 206 goals for the club, and it is no surprise to see that the former England man features in many of the fan five-a-side teams.

Speed, who tragically passed away in November 2011, is also fondly remembered, having spent seven years at St. James’ Park, whilst Gascoigne began his career at the club before moving on to Tottenham Hotspur, Lazio and others.

Newcastle sit 13th in the Premier League table as things stand with the Coronavirus pandemic causing a standstill to football.

Boss Steve Bruce and the club’s fans will be hoping some members of the current squad can make an impact like that aforementioned trio when football returns to improve on their current league standing.

Reacting to Fun88’s question, Magpies fans shared their responses:
