Many Newcastle United fans have reacted to news that the club’s scouting department has now been closed amid the recent events which have caused football to come to a standstill.
With action currently postponed, players and club personnel up and down the country are having to take wage cuts and/or be furloughed.
Newcastle are now one of the clubs to announce a that number of club officials have been temporarily relieved of their duties, including head scout Steve Nickson.
Nickson, his scouting staff and all recruitment staff are now on furlough leave until further notice.
Over recent seasons, Newcastle have signed players such as Joelinton, Allan Saint-Maximin and Emil Krafth, thanks to the help of Nickson and his team.
The news come amid claims that the Northern England based club are set to be taken over by a Saudi Arabian consortium, who are said to be keen on a £340m deal to buy out current owner Mike Ashley.
Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie tweeted the news and gained a mixed response from Newcastle fans.
