Many Newcastle United fans have reacted to latest news involving a potential takeover of the club.
The Daily Mail claimed that current owner Mike Ashley was keen to sell the club if a consortium led by Amanda Staveley submitted the right bid.
Ashley took over Newcastle in 2007, and the much criticised owner is now reportedly happy to look at offers for the club.
Whilst the report reiterates those claims, it is confirmed that no official bid has been received by Sports Direct owner Ashley, despite claims that Staveley’s consortium which is a Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIP), have submitted paperwork to the Premier League.
With the current standstill in football, it remains to be seen if a deal could go through at the present time, and The Daily Mail claim that the Premier League are not interested in paperwork until a deal is agreed by all parties.
Calls for Ashley to sell Newcastle have been frequently heard from fans of the club over recent years, but the 55-year-old businessman has been determined to find success with the club, claiming he would not sell until he had won a trophy, back in 2015.
With the rumours taking to social media, many Newcastle fans have reacted with hope at the news of a potential sale and below are just some of the posts on Twitter.
