Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce prefers a move for Celtic forward Odsonne Edouard over Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, according to a report on the Daily Record.
The manager is looking to solve the club’s goalscoring problems and reportedly sees Edouard as the ideal solution.
As stated in the report, Bruce has held video conversations with the club’s transfer team and they have identified Edouard as their top target, despite also being interested in Morelos.

The Magpies have only scored 25 times in the league this season, the joint lowest tally in the entire division, so we feel it is clear that they need a goalscorer like Edouard.
£40m summer signing Joelinton has failed to live up to expectations, whilst Edouard is in prolific form for Celtic, netting 27 times in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Morelos and Edouard have drawn many comparisons between fans and pundits in recent months but it seems Bruce feels Edouard would fit into his side better than the Rangers attacker.
After spending so big last summer, they’ll potentially have to do the same again to land Edouard but because Dwight Gayle has also been poor this term, whilst Andy Carroll is injury prone, we feel that Bruce is doing the right thing by targeting a proven goalscorer for the summer transfer window.
By offloading one forward, Bruce could potentially have space and capacity to make a move for the Frenchman, who seems to be more composed than Morelos, who has been sent off twice this season.
