Steve Bruce has been urged to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard, with his son Alex convincing him to make the move, as reported by Football Insider.
The 35-year old former defender spoke exclusively to Football Insider, revealing that he spoke highly of the 22-year old, having played against him for Kilmarnock last season.
Speaking to Football Insider, Bruce said:
I have told dad about Edouard so we’ll see. When you look at going into Europe to buy a top striker now, I mean Newcastle paid £40million for Joelinton, the price teams demand nowadays for top strikers is huge.
When you think of what it might cost to get him out of Celtic, it might be worth a punt.
Whether you could get him for £20-30million, I know it sounds like a lot of money but in today’s market, it might be alright and if he comes and does anything near what he does (in Scotland) in the Premier League then it would be great.
Edouard has scored 19 goals and assisted ten in 24 SPL appearances for the Hoops this season.

Edouard has become somewhat of a revelation for Celtic this season, with fans of the Hoops desperate to see the club tie him down to a new long-term contract in a bid to fend off summer interest.
With his new profile though, and with several Premier League clubs said to be keen on signing the Frenchman, it could be difficult for the Glasgow outfit to keep the 22-year old beyond the end of the current campaign.
With Newcastle lacking options up front, Edouard could be just the man that Bruce needs in his squad.
Dwight Gayle, Yoshinori Muto and Andy Carroll have all had their respective long-term futures cast into doubt this season, while Joelinton’s goalscoring exploits, or lack thereof, have often seen the Magpies field a toothless attack.
If Bruce wants to remedy that in the summer, then Edouard could be the man to fix those issues, if Mike Ashley is willing to back the manager in the transfer market.
