Several Newcastle fans have been left frustrated following Steve Bruce’s recent comments concerning the club’s lack of depth up front.
The Magpies were held to a 0-0 draw against bottom placed Norwich City at St James’ Park on Saturday, with attacking options Joelinton, Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin failing to impress for the home side.
Talking to Newcastle’s website, Bruce defended his tactics against the Canaries, claiming that while he “would love” to play two forwards up front, that his side aren’t equipped to do so. Bruce said:
I’ve said from day one I would love to play two up top. I just don’t think we’re ready just yet with what we’ve got so I won’t just change for the sake of it.
Bruce currently has just Joelinton available to him up in terms of strikers, with Dwight Gayle, Andy Carroll and Yoshinori Muto all on the sidelines with injuries.
However, this knowledge did nothing to allay the frustrations of some supporters, with several in disbelief that Bruce could criticise his options immediately after refusing to make January signings, taking to social media to express their thoughts on the situation.
