# Newcastle fans delighted by ‘bargain’ Bentaleb deal

Newcastle are reportedly poised to complete the loan signing of Nabil Bentaleb from Bundesliga side Schalke.

[According to Sky Sports News’ Keith Downie, who cites Sky Germany,](https://twitter.com/SkySports_Keith/status/1219571130215866368) the loan deal will cost the Magpies just £850,000 for the duration of his stay in the Premier League.

[Downie adds](https://twitter.com/SkySports_Keith/status/1219571130215866368) that Newcastle will pay the player’s wages in full and also have the option to sign him permanently for £8.5 million at the end of the season.

Newcastle are [yet](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1222600/Premier-League-done-deals-confirmed-transfers-January-window-Man-Utd-Liverpool-Chelsea) to make a senior signing this month and Bentaleb could be the first name through the door, with Steve Bruce targetting ‘one or two’ players this month ([The Guardian](https://www.theguardian.com/football/2020/jan/13/steve-bruce-to-discuss-newcastle-transfer-targets-with-mike-ashley-this-week)).

Bentaleb may arrive at Newcastle with a point to prove, he has been out of favour at Schalke this season as a result of his ‘unprofessional behaviour’ ([Sky Sports](https://www.skysports.com/transfer/news/12691/11903131/nabil-bentaleb-crystal-palace-interested-in-schalke-midfielder)).
