# Thomson snubs Celtic and Rangers by agreeing Newcastle terms

Newcastle have reportedly agreed personal terms with young central midfielder Reagan Thomson, ahead of a potential move from Queen’s Park, [according to Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-celtic-submit-midfield-starlet-offers-hes-agreed-personal-terms-with-newcastle/).

Despite interest from both Rangers and Celtic, [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-celtic-submit-midfield-starlet-offers-hes-agreed-personal-terms-with-newcastle/) says the 16-year-old has now decided to join the Premier League club.

According to the report from [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-celtic-submit-midfield-starlet-offers-hes-agreed-personal-terms-with-newcastle/), Newcastle will pay less than £100,000 for the player’s signature.

### Read Newcastle verdict

The [report](https://www.footballinsider247.com/rangers-celtic-submit-midfield-starlet-offers-hes-agreed-personal-terms-with-newcastle/) claims that Thomson will join up with the club’s under-23s development squad and that’s a sensible decision from the Magpies. The player is clearly highly-rated in Scotland, having already made nearly a dozen starts at senior level, as per [transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/reagan-thomson/profil/spieler/694514), despite being just 16 years of age.

He may already have tasted senior football, but the move from the [Scottish League Two](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/scottish-league-two/table) to the Premier League could be considered quite the jump for any player, let alone one so young.

While it’s not a major first-team signing, this could still be viewed as a coup for the club. Such is the stronghold that Rangers and Celtic have on Scottish football, missing out on one of the country’s younger talents could be seen as a blow to them both in the long run.
