Newcastle United have slapped a £15m price tag on Dwight Gayle’s head going into the January transfer window.
According to The Telegraph, Steve Bruce wants to sell Gayle, but does not believe that a Championship club will be able to afford him.
Leeds and West Brom have both been linked with moves for the forward, who scored 23 goals on loan to the Baggies last season.

Gayle has made a smattering of appearances in recent weeks for Newcastle, but has not done enough to suggest that he can be a regular starter under Steve Bruce and deliver consistently. A move back to the Championship does seem ideal, given his record at that level.
Whilst £15m may be too steep for a Championship team, it would be interesting to see if Newcastle would be willing to listen to a loan with an option to buy offer. For example, if Leeds signed him on loan with a clause saying that they had to sign him permanently for £15m if they gain promotion up to the Premier League.
This seems to be the best option for all parties involved, but the report does not state that it is being considered at this moment in time.
