Newcastle United defender Florian Lejeune has provided a positive fitness update ahead of the clash with Bournemouth.

The centre-back has been out of action since April with a knee injury but has hinted that he is ready to be back with the first-team.

The Frenchman is one of the club’s best defenders and his return is a timely boost for Steve Bruce’s side.

With the fixture schedule set to get busy, Bruce now has another experienced figure to call upon.

However, it’s important that he’s not rushed back into the starting XI, rather it would be better to ease him into the team so he can get some rhythm back. Overall, this is very good news for the club.
