Newcastle United’s Under-23s coach Neil Redfearn has resigned from his role with immediate effect, as reported on the Daily Star.
Redfearn was only made the manager of the U23 side in June but he has quit the job because of the club appointing deputy coach Liam Bramley against his wishes.

The former Leeds United manager was becoming increasingly frustrated with the setup of the reserve side and eventually made his decision to leave after the club appointed Bramley, who he found difficult to work with.
The relationship between the two was becoming increasingly strained and this was potentially rubbing off onto the young players, which is something Redfearn wanted to avoid.
Is this a good decision from Redfearn?

The fact that Redfearn would rather be out of a job than hinder the development of Newcastle’s youngsters shows that he truly cares about the next generation of players.
His working relationship with Bramley simply wasn’t working and despite being very highly-rated by senior officials at the club, he’s been brave to hand in his resignation.
The manager should be able to decide who he wants as his deputy or assistant and giving him someone who he did not want is what initiated the problem.
