Newcastle defender Fabian Schar has made the bold claim that the current squad has more quality than last season’s.
Despite losing Ayoze Perez and Salomon Rondon, Schar feels as though Newcastle are better off in terms of talent.

Newcastle lost Perez and Rondon, but were able to bring in Allan Saint-Maximin and Joelinton to replace them, along with the likes of Emil Krafth and Jetro Willems. Whether they have more talent than them is up for debate, but Saint-Maximin and Joelinton – so far- have been unable to replicate their predecessors’ form from last season.
Rondon and Perez both hit double figures last term, whilst Joelinton has scored once in 10 games and Saint-Maximin is yet to register a goal or assist in the Premier League.
