Newcastle manager Steve Bruce reportedly opted against a deal to sign Hull forward Jarrod Bowen in the summer.
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle were in talks with Hull as they look to strike an agreement with the Championship club.
The report claims that Bruce then decided to pull the plug after learning how much Hull wanted for Bowen, as he thought it was too expensive.

Did Bruce make the right call?

It is hard to say given that the report does not mention the fee Hull wanted for Bowen. However, Newcastle did sign Joelinton for a club-record £40m from Hoffenheim and he has, so far, failed to deliver.
Joelinton has scored once in 10 Premier League appearances, whilst Miguel Almiron – signed for a, at the time, club-record fee in January – has failed to register a single goal or assist for Newcastle this year. Bowen, meanwhile, he scored eight goals in 14 Championship games. This comes after he found the back of the net 22 times last season for the Tigers, showing how impressive he is in front of goal.
Bowen, who is only 22, is a great prospect for the future and has proven himself to be a prolific scorer at Championship level out wide, so it will be interesting to see if Newcastle revisit the deal in the January transfer window.
