Two months later and Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere has aimed a sly dig at Newcastle, claiming that his club should not be selling to teams like Newcastle.

You can see where Rivere is coming from, in fairness, as he does not want to see the best players from his club move to teams who are not in the elite bracket of football. Newcastle are a bottom-half Premier League side and are able to sign Nice’s top stars, but that is unlikely to change any time soon.
The Premier League is the most-watched league in football, with a potential TV audience of 4.7 billion – due to the number of television deals across the globe. With this comes a desire for players to play in the Premier League and all that comes along with it.
