Joelinton has only scored one goal in eight Premier League matches so far this season, but has shown some promising signs. He makes smart runs in the final third and has demonstrated his ability to hold the ball up under pressure from opposition defenders.
His work-rate from the front was crucial against Manchester United, as it gave their defenders little time on the ball to start attacks from the back. However, he will need to start adding more goals to his game if he wants to be Newcastle’s starting number nine for the entire season, with the likes of Gayle and Carroll breathing down his neck on the bench.
