Newcastle United’s contract extension negotiations with Sean Longstaff have stalled, according to a report by the Shields Gazette.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester United in recent months, which has resulted in Newcastle being keen to offer him a bumper new deal.

The Magpies want him to sign a six-year extension but things are not running as smoothly as they would have hoped. His current deal expires in the summer of 2022.
Should Newcastle fans be worried?

The 21-year-old is a fan-favourite at St James’ Park and is one of the best rising talents of English football.
He put in an excellent showing against his suitors Manchester United before the international break, alongside his younger brother Matty, who scored the winner.
Keeping Sean at the club will be one of Newcastle’s main targets over the next few transfer windows and getting him to agree on a new deal will settle any nerves.
The fact that talks have stalled is worrying because it means that either the club are not willing to fulfil his demands or the player is pondering a move elsewhere.
