Former Newcastle forward Callum Roberts recently signed for Non-League outfit Blyth Spartans following his release from the club.
Speaking in an interview with Spartans, Roberts has calimed that he feels wanted – something he did not feel at Newcastle.
Twitter: ? “I’ve never felt like this at a club before, you feel like you’re wanted there and happy. I’ve never been happier… https://t.co/L3xk5Rgtc5 (@Blyth_Spartans)

Roberts was released by the club over the summer, despite scoring his first senior goal for Newcastle in January. He found the back of the net in Newcastle’s 4-2 FA Cup win over Blackburn, but that was not enough to earn him a contract extension.
The fact that he has had to drop to Non-League to find a club suggests that Newcastle made the right call, considering that they are currently in the Premier League. However, that is not to say that Roberts will never develop into a Premier League player, but he is clearly not ready to compete at the top level in the present.
