Would he be a good signing in January?

Yes. Newcastle lack natural depth at left-back, with Matt Ritchie the only alternative to Jetro Willems in the position. Bringing Manning in would allow Ritchie to play higher up the pitch in midfield, his natural position.
Manning has been given an impressive WhoScored rating of 7.11/10 for his performances this season, contributing three assists in 11 games from left-back. He has averaged 2.3 tackles and 1.4 interceptions per-game in the Championship, highlighting his excellent defensive displays.
He is also just 23-years-old, which means that he has plenty of time ahead of him to develop and improve as a player in the coming years.. This means that he could be a very shrewd investment for Newcastle, whilst also adding another good option for Steve Bruce in the Premier League.
