Newcastle United registered their first home win of the season by beating Manchester United 1-0 on Sunday.
Matty Longstaff’s right-footed shot from outside the penalty area got the better of David de Gea and made the difference.
Steve Bruce’s side produced a magnificent performance following a few lackluster displays. Manchester United dominated the Magpies in possession but the latter often gave trouble to the opposition defenders and eventually, found their goal in the 72nd minute. This victory will be a confidence booster for Bruce’s side.
With the win, Newcastle United are now 16th in the Premier League table with eight points to their name. With the international break coming up, the Magpies don’t play their next fixture until the 19th. However, their next opponent will be a tough one they will lock horns with Chelsea who are currently 5th in the Premier League table.

Martin Dubravka-7
Was always up to the task when needed. Dubravka now has the joint-most number of clean sheets in the Premier League – 3.
DeAndre Yedlin- 7.5
Produced a fine performance on his first start of the season. Was effective defensively and also contributed in the attack. Emil Krafth might find some competition
Ciaran Clark- 8
The Irish international gave a fine performance at the heart of defence, making some crucial challenges. Bruce might give Clark some more first-team opportunities nw
Jamal Lascelles- 7.5
The Newcastle was an authoritative figure at the back and his display was a major improvement over what we saw in the past couple of games.
Fabian Schar- 8.5
The Swiss international was a menace to the Manchester United attackers yesterday. Was unfortunate to see his header miss the net.
Jetro Willems-9
Provided the assist for the winner and was brilliant throughout the match defensively and offensively.
Sean Longstaff-7
The 21-year-old was brilliant in midfield and often initiated attacks. Should be in the starting XI in Newcastle’s

Saint-Maximin should be a regular for the Magpies as the season progresses.
Joelinton- 6.5
Wasn’t really his evening as he didn’t prove to be much of a threat up front. The Brazilian needs to be a little more clinical if he’s to retain his place in Newcastle’s squad
