Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle has finally made his long-awaited return to first-team training this week.
According to Chronicle journalist Lee Ryder, Gayle is back in contention to play in the Premier League, having made zero appearances so far this season.
Gayle missed the majority of pre-season and has not made a single appearance on the bench this term.

Should Gayle start on Sunday?

If he is fit and available, yes. Gayle offers something completely different to Newcastle up front, compared to the likes of Joelinton, Muto and Carroll.
Gayle has the intelligence to make good runs in behind and stretch defences, which could give Miguel Almiron and Christian Atsu more space to work in in the final third.
He is also clinical inside the box, which means Newcastle only need to create half-chances for Gayle to have a sniff at goal. With only four goals scored after seven games so far this season, Steve Bruce needs to change something and Gayle could be the answer to his problems.
Bruce could look to play Gayle and Joelinton as a pair and have them play off each other, potentially switching to a back four or benching Almiron and giving him a rest this weekend.
