Manchester United are reportedly interested in luring Newcastle central midfielder Sean Longstaff to Old Trafford, according to the Express.
United have been lacking options in midfield since the departures of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini, with Nemanja Matic also looking like he is coming to the end of his time at the club.
There was interest back in the summer from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to bring Longstaff to the club, however, his side were put off by the £55 million price tag that Newcastle had on his signature at that time.
With the Red Devils doing so poorly this season already, it looks as if Solskjaer will have to put the financial worry behind him and go all out for the English prospect, whatever the price.
Should Newcastle try and hold on to their man or open the door for United to come swooping in for big money?

It would be foolish for Steve Bruce to try and hold on to him.
Longstaff is a highly-regarded English prospect and it’s very likely that he’ll go on to great things further down the line in his career. However, this is not what’s needed now at Newcastle.
The Magpies find themselves in a real problem and the side need a massive makeover. With a fee of around £40-£55 million, the club could bring in some great experience in the middle of the park and also add reinforcements in defence and attack as well.
He has also had severe injury problems as well, which has prevented Longstaff from integrating fully back into the first-team on a regular basis, meaning he is someone who the side are used to playing without.
They should try and sell in January to open up funds to bring more players to the club which would increase their chances of staying up for another year in the Premier League.
