# Gayle sent to training camp for recovery – are they missing him?

Newcastle have sent striker Dwight Gayle to a warm-weather training camp in order to aid his recovery.

[According to The Chronicle](https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/newcastle-united-send-dwight-gayle-16991454), Gayle has been sent to a training camp after returning from a muscle injury to get him back up to speed.

Gayle has been out since the start of pre-season with a muscle injury and has yet to kick a ball since Steve Bruce’s arrival.

Are Newcastle missing Gayle?

Yes. Steve Bruce’s side have been lacking in attack, to say the least, in the Premier League this season and could do with a player of Gayle’s quality to come back from injury.

Newcastle have scored just four goals in six league matches, with club-record signing Joelinton managing one in six so far – the winner against Tottenham last month.

Gayle is a proven scorer, after netting 23 times on loan to West Brom in the Championship last season. He also scored six Premier League goals during his last season in the top-flight, showing that he knows how to find the back of the net at this level.

Bruce could throw Gayle into the side with Joelinton and look to form a partnership up front, which could help unlock the best out of both of them. Gayle thrived in the Championship last term alongside Jay Rodriguez for West Brom and could strike a similar relationship with Joelinton at St. James’ Park.
