Rodgers believes Spurs win will boost confidence – concern for Newcastle?

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers believes that his side’s win over Tottenham last weekend will help to build confidence.

Newcastle travel away to face Leicester this weekend, as they look for just their second win of the season – having also beaten Spurs last month.

Speaking to The Leicester Mercury, Rodgers said this:

It was a very important win, when you play against the top sides, you want to do well. Tottenahm have top quality players, a real test for us, especially going behind. The connection between supporters and players was very strong. It helps build confidence.

Is this is a concern for Newcastle?

Absolutely. Newcastle struggled against Brighton in large spells last weekend, although they were able to pick up a 0-0 draw, and have not been in the best of form.

Leicester are third in the league and coming into the game off the back of a huge win, which will – as Rodgers said – boost their confidence. Newcastle need to be wary of this as any slip in concentration is bound to be punished by Leicester’s quality going forward.

The likes of James Maddison, Ayoze Perez, Jamie Vardy and Harvey Barnes are all dangerous players at this level and could cause Newcastle a lot of problems, especially if they are buoyed by confidence.
