# These Newcastle fans react to Pawson being appointed for Leicester clash

Newcastle make the trip to the midlands to face Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday.

Steve Bruce’s side have won one of their first six matches, whilst Leicester are third in the table.

Craig Pawson has been confirmed as the on-field referee, who will of course be assisted by VAR if needed.

### READ NEWCASTLE VERDICT

Whilst some fans seemingly want Steve Bruce to be sacked already, it is far too early in the season for any drastic decisions such as that. He deserves time to get the side playing how he wants them to as they look to avoid relegation back down to the Championship.

In terms of the referee, you could argue that it is largely irrelevant now – given that VAR will overrule any clear and obvious errors by the referee. If he makes a big mistake that could cost Newcastle the game, it will be overturned by VAR and give the fans no reason to complain about his performance.
